I want to start first by thanking all our members of the Green parties and Movement in the Eastern Africa region for being part of EAGF. This time round, a strong committed committee is in place and no turning back.
With funding from Westminster Foundation UK and support of Green Party Of England and Wales, EAGF has a website which is a gateway to expose our good efforts in the region to the entire World where many times our financial limitation had failed us to come out into the limelight, and the public at large does not know what we doing to Green this region full of armed conflicts, nature destruction, questionable governance.

Many times we do not realize how important we are in our communities living a greener lifestyle, conserving our resources and not polluting are all things we can do to go Green and help keep the environment clean. Our call to all is to cut our carbon footprint! And Live in a more green way and supporting the reduction of our carbon footprint today, We will face regret in the future for not making a bigger change today because we all can do our part to live in a greener way.

We are living in a crucial time. The future of our planet depends on the actions we take today so as Greens sometimes we need to sit back and thank ourselves for a job well done after all these years of protecting the public, answering the call, and protecting the rights of the poor and the underserved we promise to share with you our success stories and challenges.

In summary, from me to all of you I say THANK YOU. We appreciate you being part of our wider GREENS membership and we look forward to working with you in coming year, as always. • Dr. Frank Habineza is the president of the African Greens Federation a coalition of Green political parties and political movements that promote principles of green ideology which include sustainability, social justice, non-violence, participatory democracy, equity among others

Message from the AGF PresidentDr. Frank HABINEZA

This is great news that at last the Eastern Africa Green Federation has put up a website. The Eastern Africa Greens Federation (EAGF) is one of the regional federations of the African Greens Federation that was established in 2013 in Kigali Rwanda as a coalition of Green political parties and political movements that promote principles of green ideology which include sustainability, social justice, non-violence, participatory democracy, equity among others. EAGF members include Ecological Party of Uganda, Democratic Green Party of Rwanda, Afro-greens Party of Kenya and Burundi Green Movement

The African Greens Federation is partnering with the Westminster Foundation for Democracy-UK and the Green Party of England and Wales to support Green political parties in Eastern Africa from 2016-2018. This partnership will strengthen both the Eastern Africa Greens Federation (EAGF) and its member parties in Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda and Burundi.

The Eastern Africa Greens Federation recently trained member parties on elections and campaigns, held an ordinary congress and conducted a women training workshop in Kigali, Rwanda from 13th to 16th 2016. These events were hosted by the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda. A lot more activities are planned in 2017 and our member parties will participate in the upcoming presidential elections in Rwanda and Kenya.

On behalf of the African Greens Federation, we wish to thank you all for supporting the growth of the Green Movement in Africa and hope to continue working with you.

Vision

" Together for a more Green Peaceful Eastern Africa ."

Core Values

EAGF’s strategic direction is anchored on the Federation’s core values that are fundamental in shaping the beliefs and practices through all its operations.

Strategy and time period

The EAGF is a new organisation and a 5-year Strategic Plan (2015-2020) will guide EAGFs’ activities and growth over the initial start-up period. As EAGF re-positions itself for the next five years, equally important is the need to assess the federation’s workforce with a view to introducing specific capacity enhancement interventions to better execute the strategic objectives and actions as articulated in the Strategic Plan

Policy and Legal Framework

EAGF is driven by registered country member parties who are members of the EAGF. It is hosted by the Ecological Party of Uganda which is a legally registered political party in Uganda

EAGF Planning Cycle

To ensure that this plan translates into concrete outcomes for all stakeholders, EAGF has established an annual cycle of planning and budgeting.
